IntelliChime

Page history last edited by PBworks 18 years, 6 months ago

The intelliChime is a publicly located ubiquitous system in the form of an electronically augmented windchime. It responds to people based on data gathered using a webcam and computer-vision algorithms. Rather than output acoustic tones, each of the six chimes is wired to output a unique digital audio sample of a political radio talk show. Users can browse through the various content using a set of predefined gestures. User input modifies the speed and direction of the central pendulum’s motion, altering the order and rate at which the chimes are struck. Each of these strikes results in the continued playback of one of the digital audio samples. The rate of playback and the length of playback are dependent of the current state of the ongoing conversation between the user and the intelliChime.
